Our Mission Committee, in addition to collecting donations of men and women underwear, socks, etc. for the Springfield Rescue Mission, is also supporting another local organization, called Help Our Kids. Founded in 2012 by Noryn Resnick, a volunteer foster care case reviewer, Help Our Kids provides needs beyond the essential shelter, food and clothing. Items that enrich the lives of foster children which make them feel “normal.” Things like athletic equipment so they can join teams, music, art and swimming lessons to fulfill a passion, fees to join organizations and much more. Foster children are among the most vulnerable in our society. None of them asked to be in care and all of them are powerless to affect their status. For more information on Help Our Kids visit their website at https://helpourkidsinc.org/get-involved. A collection box is on the back table of the Norman Room. For January, Missions is collecting underwear and socks and for February, they will be collecting personal hygiene products.
