Second Church ministers to the needs of people while developing a sense of God’s presence. Our primary focus is on biblical preaching, teaching, and reaching out.
We begin worship with announcements and passing the Peace of Christ to one another. Following that, music, the spoken word, and prayer re-direct our minds, hearts and souls from the gathered community toward God.
During worship, you can expect a sense of warmth and of welcome through the friendly faces around you. We are a church known for greeting everyone warmly! We are also known for our ministry of music, including the Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, and Children’s Choir, as well as the music of our organ and piano.
On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate Holy Communion together. Baptisms take place as scheduled with those involved. Both are free and open to everyone.
Second Congregational Church is fully wheelchair accessible. The entrance to the full-service elevator is directly from the parking lot and marked with appropriate signs. The elevator goes down to the lower level (Dining Room and wheelchair accessible restroom) and up to the upper level (Sanctuary).
Further, we have mobile hearing-assist devices connected directly to our sound system that you may use. We also provide large-print Orders of Worship. Both may be requested from an Usher as you enter the sanctuary.
Fellowship is an important part of worship, so we have a Coffee Hour every Sunday in the Norman Room, which is adjacent to the back of the sanctuary. It’s a great time to get caught up with friends and to meet new ones.
