“ . . . do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.”
Rev. Don Remick, who preached last Sunday and has worked with many churches on revitalization, noted that these words from Micah 6:8 reflect what makes vital churches vital in the 21st century. From his sermon, Rev. Remick said that to “walk humbly with God” is to strive for worship that is deeply meaningful, engaging, and a joyful encounter with God. To “love kindness” is to connect with others: authentically, intentionally and proactively welcome ALL people.
To “do justice” is to connect with the world in general and with our communities in particular. Speaking with me, he commented very supportively that our three pillars of Spirituality, Outreach, and Worship (S.O.W.) are very much along these lines, and applauded the energy and commitment we are bringing to developing them.
