In Appreciation

What an experience it has been! I am recovering according to schedule from my               surgery. Although my fitness did not prevent the surgery, it seems to be helping me recover well.

I am humbled and filled with gratitude for the outpouring of care that I have received. It has started at home with my wife, son, daughter, sister and brother-in-law, who have all made sure that I don’t have to do anything more than I have to or want to, and that I can eat well and often. They’ve been amazing.

This care has continued through so many of you at Second Church. I have received many cards, notes, emails, and text messages offering support. It has been a powerful time in my life. Opening a single card had never seemed like such a big deal on a birthday or anniversary. But on this occasion, God seems to multiply the blessing and touch me deeply with every single one. Your faces and smiles come to mind, and it’s almost like you are right here with me in that moment. (The Holy Spirit can do amazing things!)

I can only say “thank you” for all of these gestures of support and concern, and also let you know that each one of them – ALL of them – touch me more powerfully than I would have ever imagined. God has used them well. May God bless each of you – and ALL of you – in ways equally moving.
