On Saturday, November 7th, Cub Scout Pack 164 hosted their annual Scouting for Food drive in our parking lot. Community service is a key component in Cub Scouting where the Cub Scouts learn of the importance of helping others and the community around them. The Pack received many donations from the residents of our community.
The red envelope designated for Missions can be placed in the offering plate in the sanctuary entrance or mailed to the church. This offering will be used to buy gift cards for students at Palmer High School to help make some Christmases just a little merrier.
If you know of anyone in the congregation who is food insecure and would like to have some food delivered, please call the office. All information will be kept confidential.
While there are limits on the number of people who can attend worship, we have not yet reached that limit on any Sunday. If you would like to attend worship, call Marsha Piepho at 245-1111.
Second Church is the recipient of a monetary gift bequeathed to us in the will of a former member. A check for $75,000 was received. It is yet to be determined, by the Financial Affairs Committee, just where these funds will be invested/allocated.
Since our return to in-person worship, the Flower Committee has had requests from congregants for flower donations and dedications. This has presented some unique challenges since we are operating under a “new normal” with some added restrictions. Second Church applied for and fortunately received a $28,400 PPP Loan (Paycheck Protection Program loan) back in April. The loan was given in order for us to meet our utility and payroll expenses during the Coronavirus shut down time. The loan is being forgiven and is now considered a grant and will show on our
The Stewardship Committee would like to thank those who spoke in worship during October to talk about what Second Church means to them: Ray Gilbert, June Haendiges, Carolyn Jez and Liz Desjardins. Each was quite eloquent, and it made everyone in the church proud to be on this journey together.
